Hello, my name is Theresa.
I’m a Korean-American product designer with a passion for connecting the dots and creating systems that solve complex business and design problems. My journey from psychology to social work, and ultimately to UX design, has shaped my unique approach to design. I believe that my diverse experiences allow me to deeply empathize with users, enabling me to create inclusive and innovative systems that drive truly human-centered design.
I am a generalist! My strengths are in:
UX Strategy & Experience Architecture
Design Operations & Leadership
UX/UI Design
I thrive at the intersection of creativity and strategy. I am a natural collaborator and strategist, committed to designing intuitive, user-centric interfaces that enhance digital experiences.
Career Timeline
I had quite the career journey to find the perfect home in UX. Here is the overview of what happened:
Early Life
As a child, I was often found with headphones in, doodling in the margins of notebooks, and observing the world around me. My curiosity about both art and people naturally led me to pursue a degree in Psychology with a minor in Art. This combination allowed me to explore the human mind while nurturing my creative side.
Social Work & Crisis Management
After completing my studies, my desire to help people pushed me towards a career in social work. I started by working in crisis homes, where I often found myself answering 2 a.m. emergency calls and providing support during critical moments. Over time, I took on more responsibility, eventually managing and leading both community and apartment programs. In these roles, I supervised teams of over 15 staff members and was responsible for the well-being of more than 150 clients at a time. This period deepened my understanding of human needs and solidified my commitment to making a tangible impact on people’s lives.
Creative Exploration
Despite the demands of my social work career, my creative drive never waned. I continued to illustrate and paint in my free time, but I knew I needed something more. When the COVID-19 pandemic turned the world upside down, I saw an opportunity to pivot. I pursued a design certificate, which allowed me to dive headfirst into the world of visual communication. I began freelancing, offering rebranding and design services to a growing network of agency and individual clients. This experience not only reignited my passion for creativity but also introduced me to the possibilities of digital design.
Transition to UX Design
My work in graphic design naturally led to an interest in website design. At Touchpoint Media, I established the company’s inaugural website design department from the ground up. Collaborating with agency clients across various industries, I led the website department, delivering high-quality, UX-aligned outcomes and overseeing the entire process.
It wasn’t long before I discovered the field of UX design and pursued UX certification. Here, I found the perfect intersection of my passions: understanding people’s needs and creating solutions that are both functional and beautiful. UX design felt like the home I had been searching for, where I could use my skills to create and refine digital products that truly serve their users.
Now: Lead Designer
Today, I’m the founding and lead designer at a conservation tech startup, EP Carbon, where I’ve created and implemented a UX design process. Collaborating closely with the C-suite, product owners, and engineering teams, I lead a design department that includes another product designer. Together, we focus on ensuring our product design aligns with both user needs and business objectives.

When I’m not designing, you’ll find me exploring the world with my dog and partner, practicing headstands, or running towards my first 5k. I’m always on the lookout for new inspirations and learning opportunities to fuel my creativity and professional growth.
